Illamasqua & Meadowhall, Part 2

On Thursday I took a trip back to Meadowhall after being invited back to the Illamasqua counter at Debenhams.

Since I was all on my own this time I took my Kindle for company. The train takes roughly 90 minutes out of Lincoln so I needed some entertainment! On the way home I had to have a little laugh to myself, there were 3 of us sat on the same row and we were all reading our Kindles. Currently reading First And Last Men by Olaf Stapledon. It was published in 1930, so the style of writing can take a little getting used to but I eat up classic sci-fi!!

The Christmas decorations are out! Meadowhall always looks really lovely at this time of year, especially when it gets dark out and all the little lights are switched on.

So, I received an email from Illamasqua about the previous visit to the new counter at Debenhams. They were interested to hear my thoughts about the opening and invited me back to discuss it with the counter manager and have a make over.

The counter was much calmer than in my previous visit! The stock had been sorted out and Theatre of the Nameless had been delivered and it was gorgeous (damn my no-buy!). Glen noticed I was oohing over the new Pure Pigments and we decided to use those as the basis for my eye look. I was also sprayed with the new Freak perfume and it smelled lovely. I saw the limited edition gift set with the Hemlock nail polish and wanted it so much!! But at £80, it was beyond my budget even without a no-buy.

We spent the next hour discussing various make up things while Glen did my make up. I think it looked awesome! Quite different to what I'd normally wear.

There was no pressure to buy anything afterwards, throughout the make over it was emphasised that I was simply there to relax and enjoy the make over.

I did enjoy the experience and I had been very surprised to be emailed by Illamasqua in the first place! I am certainly not a "big name" blogger and I hadn't emailed them the write up of my previous experience at the counter. While I hadn't been turned off from the brand by my previous visit anyway, it was nice that they were so interested in what I felt had gone wrong the last time. It's unusual to have that face to face discussion and I really appreciate the fact that Illamasqua want to know when things don't work out so well, rather than just ignoring the bad write ups!

  1. You look really pretty! I love the eye colors he used on you. I wish we had Illamasqua here in Colorado (USA). I could order it off Sephora.com, but they don't carry the shades I'm the most interested in.

  3. Gorgeous. Illamasqua is quickly becoming one of my faves after I visited their counter in Selfridges a few weeks ago :-)

  4. Ah did you get that Berber pigment? If so would LOVE a tutorial! I hardly wear mine as I don't know what to pair it with - though it is so beautiful! Illamasqua really are making themselves the friendliest brand out there, they always seem to have a radar on making sure everyone is happy - what a lovely gesture! You look so cute in that pic Becky xx
