Review: Beauty Before Blues Part 1

A few weeks ago I received a package of samples from an indie company called Beauty Before Blues. They are on Etsy, but the stock seems quite limited as I'm writing this review.

I received a bunch of eye shadow samples, along with some yummy lip products. This part is for the eye shadow samples, you know those are going to be my favourite! I can't give you pricing information right now as there are no eye shadows listed on the Etsy store front at the moment but from checking before, I don't remember that the prices were unreasonable.

I received one full sized jar and 8 samples. All had labels detailing the product name and each colour has an individual ingredients label. Samples were quite generous and I'm going to get plenty of uses out of each sample.

All swatches are carried out with a dry brush over Detrivore primer.

-Golden Sunset - shimmery buttery gold
-Mushroom Patch - shimmery peach with taupe tones
-Pink w/ Teal Appeal - mid toned shimmery cool pink with teal sparkle
-Tiger Lillies - shimmery copper with golden tones

-Burning Bush - shimmery plum/purple with golden sparkle
-Mystical Mermaid - shimmery teal
-Ocean Girl - bright, lively blue with a brighter blue shimmer
-Capistran Blue - deep navy shimmer
-The Raven - black base with silver shimmer overlay

So I have used these shadows over the last few weeks and I've noticed that the lighter shades are quite sheer, even when used with Pixie Epoxy. They're quite complex, lovely colours but I do wish one or two had more pigmentation. I did get a bit of fading towards the end of the day with Mystical Mermaid which I found unusual. I rarely get fading with mineral eye shadows so I'm not quite sure what's happening there. Also, I got some staining with Ocean Girl which is a very vivid blue.

You can see a FOTD with these shadows:

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the shop to see what else gets listed, I'm planning on trying some more eye shadow samples. Coming up will be the lip products I received!

These products were received free for review, this has no effect on the review I give.
