Review: E45 Lotion

I've been a beauty product addict for a long time, even before I began uploading videos and blogging. In the time I have tested a lot of body lotions, moisturisers and creams. There's always one in particular I go back to: E45 Moisturising Lotion.

It's available all over the UK: Boots, Superdrug, Supermarkets, Local Chemists. There are at least 3 or 4 places in my tiny makeup desert of a town that I can buy this. It's everywhere and it's cheap. I have a 500ml bottle of the lotion. Prices seem to vary but it's usually between £5-£10. Places like Boots and Superdrug. Boots lists the product on the website for £5.49 (price correct 11/07/10).

I'm always surprised at just how large the range is. There are lotions, creams, "beauty" lotions, medicated products that you need a prescription for, bath products, stuff for babies, and I'm sure a load more that I've missed. You can see some more information about the products available on the E45 website.

The one that I use is the simple Moisturising Lotion. It's perfume free and hypoallergenic. I generally prefer unscented body products (unless it's something like my Hypnotic Poison Body Cream where the whole point is the scent) as I have issues with many highly perfumed products.

E45 is a range designed to add moisture to dry skin. It's not an organic, all-natural product by any means so it's be to avoid if you don't want to use anything with parabens. It also contains Lanolin (which my skin loves), so avoid if you're vegan.

E45 Lotion is light and easily absorbed into my skin, I use it from my hairline down to my toes! It's suitable for face, body and hands. I don't have to wait long for it to be absorbed and it doesn't leave a greasy film behind, which is a problem I've had with some other lotions. My skin isn't particularly dry so if you need more moisturisation then it might be worth checking out the E45 Cream. As the lotion isn't too heavy, I've found that it's suitable for face moisturising as well. I only use it on my face in the evenings as it takes a little longer for it to soak in on my face.

I love this stuff! I wonder how many of my UK readers have a bottle of this stuff stashed away.

Oh, I've also used this to moisturise my tattoo when I didn't need to use the Germolene.

  1. That stuff is awesome. We used to get a huge tub of it on prescription. Good times.

  2. hi Becky

I have used the cream in the past when my skin gets really dry (normally about once a month my face goes mad with dryness.) The cream is great as it does the job really well. but i generally find it to thick for me. (i've never liked really thick creams.)I didnt know they did a lotion..I will definitely check it out next time i'm in boots thanks :)
