Review: MAC Paint "Untitled"

My MAC Paint in "Untitled" has got to be one of my most used products of all time. The picture shows my band new tube (number 3!) that I haven't got round to using yet. I'm just finishing off my seconds tube of the stuff.

MAC Paints are available from MAC stores, counters and websites. They cost £13.00 for 6.5ml. More colours used to be available but most were discontinued when the Paint Pots were released. Only the neutrals seem to be left in Paint form now.

As much as I love the Paints, the packaging is pretty ridiculous. They all seem to come with a great air bubble inside them which means you end up getting splatted with the paint when you first use them. A solution is to unroll the very end of the tube which seems to help. Also, the tiny cap just feels awkward. No matter how careful I am, the threads of the cap get crusted up with the paint.

But, the product inside is pretty amazing. For me to have gone through nearly 2 tubes of it, it must be pretty good! I say "paint" but in reality it's just a cream eye shadow. I have to mention that as people have left freaked out comments on YouTube videos after they've thought I have applied real paint to my lids.

The paint is a pinkish-beige with a small amount of shimmer. I have applied a very heavy streak to get it to show up as it is very close to my skin tone.

I use this as a sort of "primer" for my eye shadow bases. I like to use slightly creamy bases, such as the shadesticks, and they will crease on me if I apply them to my bare lids. A very thin layer of this paint will prevent any creasing on me. The paint will completely set and no oil from my lids will get through it! It goes on as a cream but sets very quickly into more of a powder finish. I apply using a taklon concealer brush. Something like the MAC #242 or #252 would work well. Mine is just a Crown Brush one that I got in a parcel one day.

I hope this one never gets discontinued! I'm good for a couple more years with my new tube though. I've tagged this one under "eye shadow" as that is what it technically is.

  1. Do you have oily lids/do you think it would work well for really oily lids? I usually use UDPP for my insanely oily lids, but MAC Paints are more accessible for me :)

  2. @SilhouetteScreams - maybe not very oily lids, these are still a cream product. Mine are only getting slightly more oily so it still works for me.
